Mednet recently exhibited at a North West Coast Academic Health Science Network (NWC AHSN) Ecosystem event in Widnes, Lancashire that focussed on ‘Reducing alcohol related admissions to hospitals and use of emergency and urgent care services’.
Delegates attending the event such as CCG leads, clinicians, health and social care managers and leaders, academic partners, businesses, and patient representatives had the opportunity to:
- hear about delivery experience of technologies that can help prevent admissions
- where the current system challenges lie
- work with partners to explore opportunities to improve and innovate in this space
We supported this event by demonstrating our expertise and solutions that can be effective in this field. The estimated costs of alcohol misuse and related harm to the NHS, Criminal Justice System and workplace in an average primary care cluster (population c. 350,000) could be as high as £150 million, which is expected to rise to £190 million by 2015.1 We highlighted our innovative digital solutions to address this in the form of mobile apps, e-Learning and treatment management services. Our solutions can positively impact on system and patient outcomes, whilst improving cost-efficiency for the NHS and wider healthcare sector.
The event was extremely positive, with opportunities to network and discuss hot topics and best practice in this field. We are now working to take the discussions we had with delegates during the day forward, streamlining our bespoke solutions to individual project requirements with interested partners.
